Just when you think Kanye won’t stoop any lower, he does the unthinkable. Kanye used a photo of the late iconic singer, Whitney Houston’s bathroom that was filled with drugs on Pusha T’s new album cover, and the Houston family is not happy about it. Damon Elliott slammed West after it was revealed that he spent $85,000 for the photo, for the artwork for the album that West produced.
“To Do something for a publicity stunt to sell records, it’s absolutely disgusting; said Elliott. It hurt my family and my daughter. It’s petty. It’s tacky.”
Houston’s cousin isn’t the only one who’s upset about this photo, her ex-husband and father of her only child, Bobby Brown wasn’t a happy camper when he found out about the photo and has threatened to do physical harm to Kanye.
The bathroom photo was initially published in 2006 by the National Enquirer. The story that accompanied it featured Houston’s sister-in-law, Tina Brown, claiming that Houston won’t stay off drugs.
When Pusha T had an interview with 105.1 with Angie Martinez, he simply said that they’d already decided on other pictures, but Kanye said he wanted to spend the $85,000 on the picture of Houston’s Atlanta bathroom. He said Kanye’s words were “No, this is what people need to see to go along with this music. Imma pay for it.”
Although it’s clear who paid for the picture, it’s unclear who he paid to use the picture and he won’t disclose it, and he hasn’t addressed the backlash he’s received for the bathroom photo, but he did share the image to Twitter a day before the album was released.
