Kreative Vibez with Kas – Jus Marvin

What’s up UITA fam? It’s your girl Kas. Did you miss me? Well I’m back with the happs, but I thought we would switch up the tempo a little. Instead of just bringing you the local calendar I thought I would hit you with Kreative Vibez, a new segment that will keep you up to date with who you should know and where to go for the best vibes in the world of arts and entertainment across the nation.

So what’s the vibe for this edition? Let’s go to Louisiana and meet actor/ host/ spoken word artist Marvin Smith.

Poetically known as “Jus’ Marvin”, he is using spoken word to build and expand the poetry community that he has grown to love. His love for the art of poetry brought him to create an artistry association named “Notebook Assassins” where local artists share the same stage with full-time artists both in and out of state. He has opened for The Shreveport African American Chamber of Commerce Business Expo (which featured Boris Kodjoe). He has featured in cities such as San Antonio, College Station, Baton Rouge, Alexandria and more. His work has been featured on platforms such as Write About Now, Bayou City Poetry Slam and Texas Grand Slam. In 2017, He took to the stage for his acting debut in the LGA Production “The Man Name Job”. This led him to his role as Ian in the Charming Arts Production “Mommas District”. Jus’ Marvin enjoys using his poetry to be an activist to stop the stigma of masculinity, sexuality and mental health. He hopes to shine the light on the power and art of poetry for all by using his growing platform.

When asked what inspired him to vibe through poetry as his medium, the poet responded “Poetry saved my life and I hope that I can show others how to let it do the same for them”

This man has quite the list of bragging rights. Definitely sounds like a creative vibe worth checking out, right? So I had to ask, where can we find you and what do you have coming up the people want to know. And here’s what I got:
